Why is 89 cheaper than 87 in iowa

Also do u use 89 or I tank 87 because same content of gallons has more BTU and lasts longer. Why push for 89? We have only one Shell here in Waterloo. I agree that I hate to use 89 octane instead of 87 octane for my car. It's ridiculous that it costs less than the 87 octane.

Maybe it's the chemistry stuff, hell I don't know. No Chevron and others that I see commonly back in the West. I kind of feel that the gas here in Iowa is kinda "junk" compared to Chevron and Shell.

Maybe, because I'm not used to the brands that I have never heard of before. Last edited by pepe1; at PM.. Originally Posted by sequoias. Auto manufacturers approve the use of Unleaded General Motors recommends use of Unleaded 88 beginning with its model year vehicles and Ford recommends Unleaded 88 for its and newer vehicles.

Use of fuels and fuel additives not mentioned does not necessarily void a vehicle warranty. In fact, vehicle manufacturers may not deny a warranty claim based on use of a different fuel if that fuel did not contribute to the problem for which the warranty claim is made. I've personally only have seen those in Minnesota are prevalent in Des Moines metro. They advertise "Guaranteed Gas" prevalently in their advertisements and on their signage. Can't tell you want it means, but they do put emphasis on tharee quality of their fuel for what that is worth.

My better vehicles run on 87 octane, and 87 octane only. Originally Posted by capitalcityguy. Which is what Kwik Shops in the QC's used to be.

I grew up in northeast Iowa. Kwik Trips were pretty common. Changed the name to Kwik Star at some point, but across the river in Wisconsin they were still Kwik Trip.
